In Christian tradition, the Apostle Peter, who most believe was the leader of the 12 apostles, was martyred in Rome sometime between 64-68 A.D. He was reportedly crucified upside-down, so as not to die in the same manner as his Savior, Jesus, because he was unworthy to die in the way.
